Three new Tehnomont fast patrol vessels for the Cyprus Port and Marine Police
The new Cypriot 18-meter fast patrol vessel
The Government of the Republic of Cyprus –
Ministry of Justice and Public Order – Cyprus Port and Marine Police
(Coast Guard) has received three (3) new fast patrol vessels from
the Croatian shipbuilder Tehnomont. The first of the boat, named Kyrenia (Patrol Vessel; PV 31), was launched in May 2023 and the rest two, Kantara (PV 32) in June and Pentadaktylos (PV 33) in August, at the company's shipyard in Pula. TEHNOMONT SHIPYARD PULA Ltd is listed as the leading Croatian shipyard of medium dimensions, and the fact that they are one of the leading builders of aluminum ships on the Croatian market. The
shipyard, which has some 150 employees, will deliver also
two 25-meter firefighting vessels for Greece by the end of the year.

The new patrol boat was developed by Camarc Design
The 18 meter aluminum patrol boat project was developed by Camarc Design, United Kingdom. Camarc Design has also developed the new 25-meter firefighting vessels for the Hellenic Fire Service, which are currently under construction in Pula, Croatia. A tender for the supply of the three patrol boats was announced in 2020. A consortium of Iskra Shipyard doo Šibenik and Tehnomont Pula won this tender. The value of this order is €7.5 million. The design's exact overall length is 17.6 meters, the beam 4.7m and the draught 1.6m. The engines are two MTU V8 of 896 kW each (1,200hp x 2). There are also two 20kW electric generators. The boats are also equipped with a bow thruster and a fly-bridge.

The patrol vessel achieves a speed higher than 34 knots. The working speed is 27 knots. The crew are 4-6 people. The armament consists of two machine guns.

The vessels are intended for patrolling and rescue operations in an
area up to 150 nautical miles from the coast of Cyprus, and the
specifics include high speed and a low noise level, only 65 decibels at
maximum speed. The ships are equipped with two SIMRAD state-of-the-art navigation and
communication equipment, as well as a FLIR thermal camera with
excellent characteristics.

running at speeds, combined with excellent sea-keeping.The design is
inherently self-righting and does not rely on any device or additional
inflatable volume.
