FLEETS #14: Swedish Navy, Israeli Navy and Egyptian Navy today

This is the fifth article about various countries' navies today. In these articles, I briefly describe a country's naval fleet by reporting the ships in each type/category of warships and by providing a nice image where all the types of warships are illustrated and the units of its class are reported. I include the vessels that will enter in service this year and I have excluded those that are about to be decommissioned. I deliberately excluded many classes of auxiliary ships; those that they have "0" defence capacity and those that have secondary roles such as hydrographic survey ships, tugs, depollution vessels and training ships.

Swedish Navy (Marinen)

The Swedish Navy in 2017 (updated) consists of the following warships:

• 5 multi-mission corvettes (Visby, Helsingborg, Härnösand, Nyköping, Karlstad)
• 4 multi-mission fast attack craft (Stockholm, Malmö, Gävle,  Sundsvall)
• 5 attack submarines (Södermanland, Östergötland, Gotland, Uppland, Halland)
• 9 multi-mission mine countermeasure vessels (Koster, Kullen, Vinga, Ven, Ulvön, Styrsö,
  Spårö, Skaftö, Sturkö)
• 1 large offshore patrol vessel (Carlskrona)
• 12 patrol coastal boats  (Tapper, Djärv, Dristig, Händig, Trygg, Modig, Hurtig, Rapp, Stolt, Ärlig, Munter, Orädd)
• 1 signals intelligence ship (Orion)
• 1 patrol craft tender (Trossö)
• 1 submarine rescue ship (Belos)
• more than 150 multi-mission fast assault craft

 and several other auxiliaries such as torpedo salvage vessels, transport and training ships.

Israeli Navy

The Israeli Navy in 2017 (updated) consists of the following warships:

• 3 corvettes (Eilat, Lahav, Hanit)
• 8 multi-mission fast attack craft (Romach, Keshet, Hetz, Kidon, Tarshish, Yaffo, Herev, Sufa)
• 5 attack submarines (Dolphin, Livyathan, Tekumah, Tannin, Rahav)
• at least 47 patrol coastal boats
• 2 auxiliary vessels (Bat Yam, Bat Galim)
• unknown number of USV

 and a number of other auxiliaries and commando boats.

Egyptian Navy

The Egyptian Navy in 2018 (updated) consists of the following warships:

• 2 landing helicopter docks (Gamal Abdel Nasser, Anwar El Sadat)
• 9 frigates (Tahya Misr, Sharm El-Sheikh, Toshka, Alexandria, Taba, Domyat, Rashid, Najm al Zafer, Al Nasser)
• 4 corvettes (El Fateh, El Suez, Abou Qir, Shbab Misr)
• 33 fast attack craft (S. Ezzat, F. Zekry, A. Gad, M. Fahmy, Ramadan, Khybar, Kadesseya, Yarmouk, Badr, Hetteen, Ahmed Fadel and others)
• 6 attack submarines 
• 14 mine countermeasure vessels (Gharbia, Daqahlia, Baharia, Sinai, Assuit, Giza, Aswan, Qena, Sohag, Dhat Al Sawari, Navarine, Al Burullus, Al Farouk, Al Seddiq)
• 4 torpedo boats 
• 4 small minelayers
• 12 patrol boats/submarine chasers
• 4 patrol coastal boats  
• 1 replenishment ship (Shalatin) 
• 1 transport ship (Halayib) 
• 3 landing ships tank
• 14 landing craft
• 8 special warfare patrol craft

and numerous other auxiliaries such as torpedo salvage vessels, transport, tankers and training ships.
